The first step will be proper exercises to be done before you are ready for any sports. The exercise should start with warm ups which will be for neck, shoulders, arm and legs.
The neck is the main part so the proper way of exercising will be as follows:

Neck Stretches
Stand erect
Lift the head upwards try to go as back as possible but slowly.
Move the head to bend it slightly forward. Try to touch your chin to the chest.
Turn your head to the left and to the right slowly
After you are comfortable with the head try to turn it slowly in the circular motion and start from left and then from the right. Hold the head down jaw to the chest and stretch the neck for ten counts
Hand stretches:
Stand erect
Lift your arms upwards. Hold them together and push them backwards and hold to a count of ten and then release.
Then one arm above your shoulder and the other from the behind try to link the arms together if at first you do not succeed try using a handkerchief or a small rope in your hands.
The windmill is one of the oldest exercises and very beneficial to all. Try to swing your arm in a circular motion keeping the arms straight. Do the same with the other hand as well. Try the shoulder shrug, triceps stretches, arm circles and more to warm up before breaking into a full-speed workout.
